Storer Takes FMSC Win at Desoto Speedway!
The racers of the Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series were on hand at Desoto Super Speedway Saturday night, to add to the great night of racing at the fast 3/8 mile speedway.
Robbie Storer set the fast time with a lap of 16.452 seconds, followed by Chris Thornton with a lap of 16.547 seconds. After tech inspection, a 3 was drawn for the inversion, putting Chris Zimmerman on the pole, with Thornton on the outside of the front row. Row 2 was filled by Storer and Glen Kelly.
As the field rolled to the green flag, Zimmerman and Storer raced into turn 1 side by side. Lap 3 sees Storer make an inside move to take the lead from Zimmerman, and start to open a gap on second spot. As Storer held the lead, Marty Neikens began to battle Zimmerman for second, an was able to make the pass, and begin the chase to catch Storer. Thornton followed Neikens under Zimmerman to take third and chase Neikens, racing to the front. The first caution came out as Zimmerman and Glen Kelly made contact on the back straight, causing Kelly to hit the wall very hard. Kelly was unhurt, but finished for the evening.
The race was slowed by only a few more cautions, for minor incidents. Storer went on to take a strong win, followed by Neikens and Mitchell Webb.
