Ocala, Fla. (October 22, 2006) The First Leg of the Triple Crown was run at Desoto Super Speedway on Friday, October 20th. Twenty two cars were in the pits but only 20 were able to race since two broke before the action could begin. Topping the twenty car field was Jeff Sloan of Crystal River.

Only nine drivers were at Bronson Motor Speedway for the Second Leg on Saturday, October 21. James Powell of Astor suffered a motor problem before qualifying which narrowed the field down to eight. The laps were cut to 75 but the fans were not disappointed as those eight cars put on one heck of a show.

Setting fast time at Bronson was Mike Bresnahan of Lecanto who qualified fifth at Desoto and finished sixth. Bresnahan qualified with a 13.117 followed by Jeff Choquette of Loxatchee, Kevin Durden of Archer, Travis Cope of Bronson and Jeff Scofield of Plant City.

Bresnahan takes the point on the green followed by Choquette, Cope, Durden and Scofield. Right off the bat Durden challenged Cope for third and was able to take it putting Cope to fourth. But this was not the end of young Cope's challenges as Scofield was on the move taking over fourth as Cope slides back to seventh.

The first caution comes out on lap 11 when Robbie Smith of Ocala spins but has no damage and is able to continue racing. Restart on lap 14 sees Bresnahan, Choquette, Durden, Scofield, James Glover, Cope, Steve Weaver and Robbie Smith in the field. Durden is once again on the charge as he takes over second from Choquette who slides to fourth as Scofield takes third. In the meantime, Bresnahan is sailing away from the field and running his own race.

Scofield is once again on the move trying to take second from Kevin Durden but Durden is having nothing to do with it. Durden is much faster than Scofield in the corners but Scofield has more horsepower on the straightaways. A very close battle. By lap 45, Bresnahan has lapped both Steve Weaver and Robbie Smith.

Steve Weaver gets a thrill on lap 50 when he gets very, very loose on turn 1 but does a great save and continue racing. Lap 56 sees the yellow when James Glover spins coming off turn 4. The race goes back green on lap 61 as Bresnahan once again takes the lead over Durden, Scofield, Choquette, Cope, Glover, Smith and Weaver.

It is now the Bresnahan show as no one can catch him although Scofield and Durden are still hard at it for second. Bresnahan has almost a half track lead over the field as they come to the last lap. Scofield is once again on Durden's tail and gets alittle too close as he spins Durden out on the backstretch going to the checkered. Durden is not happy as he watches the rest of the field go by his car.

Bresnahan takes the checkered and the win for the Second Leg of the Triple Crown followed by Jeff Choquette, Travis Cope, James Glover, Jeff Scofield, Robbie Smith, Kevin Durden and Steve Weaver.

The tired racers move on to Ocala Speedway for the last leg with 18 cars in the field. Travis Cope sets fast time but after the pill draw it is Mike Bresnahan on the pole for the 125 lap event.

As the green flag is thrown, it is Bresnahan, Tim Russell, Travis Cope, Brian Finney and Rich Pratt in the top five. Wayne Anderson powers pass Pratt for fifth as Pratt settles into sixth. The fight is on for the top ten with no one wanting to give an inch. Just as the action is getting hot and heavy, the caution comes out for Jeff Scofield and Steve Weaver for a spin on the backstretch. The field is realigned as Bresnahan commands the point followed by Russell, Finney, Anderson, Pratt, Cope, Choquette, Durden and Scofield.

But it is a fast green as Durden and Choquette get together with Choquette spinning in turn 4. Both are sent to the rear of the lead lap for the restart. Bresnahan still holds the point but it is Brian Finney on the move as he passes Russell for second with Anderson going along with Finney for third as Russell settles into fourth. The caution is shown again for Tim Shull who has spun in turn 1.

Bresnahan holds the point for the restart followed by Finney, Anderson, Russell, and Pratt. The show is further back as James Glover and Kevin Durden are doing some great side-by-side action. Glover on the inside, Durden on the outside but somehow Glover retains the position.

It is now a fight between Bresnahan, Finney and Anderson as they go ahead of the field. Anderson works Finney for second and eventually is able to take it with Finney going back to third. The caution comes out for Kyle Maynard who has spun up in turn 4.

It is a short restart as Jeremy Gerstner and Maynard get together in turn 4 bringing out the caution. Bresnahan has also spun but after the caution came out retaining his spot in the field but suffers some rear-end damage to his bumper. Bresnahan's bumper is fixed but has somehow hit the oil tank of Brian Finney who was in third. Finney is checked and there seems to be no leak but that does not last for long.

On the restart, it is Bresnahan, Anderson, Finney, Russell and Pratt but Russell spins in turns 1 and 2 after hitting oil from Finney's car. After having a good run, Finney retires to the pit and Russell is given back his spot.

On the restart, Bresnahan finds his hands full of Wayne Anderson who is determined to get that number one spot. Bresnahan is able to hold on but the caution comes out again for Glover and Durden who are still racing each other hard. Glover and Durden once again go to the rear of the lead lap for the restart.

Bresnahan holds the point but not for long as Wayne Anderson makes the pass and takes over the number one position followed by Russell, Bresnahan, Pratt, and Scofield. Pratt, who considers Ocala Speedway his home track, shows his muscle and passes Bresnahan taking over third. Scofield follows Pratt for fourth as Bresnahan must settle for fifth.

Pratt maintains his march to the front and takes over second but suddenly his car quits as he slides back to fifth. The car refires but with little time to march back up to second. Anderson takes the checkered for his first win of the 2006 season in the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series followed by Tim Russell, Jeff Scofield, Kevin Durden, and Rich Pratt.

The points are totalled with Jeff Scofield winning the Triple Crown Championship by one point over Jeff Choquette.

Three nights, three different winners. The battle continues at New Smyrna Speedway on November 18 when the 41st Annual Governor's Cup 200 will crown the 2006 Sunbelt Super Late Model Champion.
